The rust finish system is 100% unique every time its used, the colours and level of rust you can achieve can vary greatly just like normal real rust
Sealing is optional but recommended for indoors or to stop the process.
Pureco rust system is a 3 part system as follows
Step 1 – a cast iron to paint to recreate the look of cast iron.
Step 2 – An activator to create rust
Step 3 – A sealant to stop your piece from rusting further. (OPTIONAL)
Ensure your surface is clean and dry. Step 1 (the rusted paint) can be applied directly to your piece or you can apply a base coat of your preferred colour first - for best coverage and the most authentic look apply a coat of black, grey or deep red.
STEP 1 - The Rusted Paint: Stir contents well before and during use using, you need to ensure the metal particles are mixed throughout your paint. Apply two coats with a roller or brush, if your using a brush, brush in as many directions as you can to avoid brush strokes. Allow the paint to fully dry, you can apply a second coat however this is optional - this can give you a better finish and more depth. Once step 1 is dry proceed to Step 2.
STEP 2 - Rust Activator: Apply one coat of step 2, After thirty minutes spray water over surface, but do not over-spray. Keep the surface moist for a minimum of two hours. You may continue to spray water until satisfied with the effect, for up to four days. Once the desired finish is achieved and is completely dry, apply one coat of STEP 3: Sealer with Flat Sealer to prevent further oxidation effects.
Approximate coverage rate: Rust Finish cast iron paint (step 1) - 3-4 square metres per liter Rust Finish Activator (step 2) - 9-10 metres per liter Rusted Sealer (step 3) -: 6–10 square metres per liter, depending on application technique and surface roughness.
Safety and Environmental Care Personal Protection: Wear eye protection and dust mask when spraying, as splashes may cause eye irritation and inhalation of spray mist may cause respiratory irritation. Keep out of reach of Children *Clean up slippery when spilled * Restrict access to area until clean-up is completed *When cleaning up spills, use personal protection equipment *stop leak if safe to do so and contain spill with absorbent material such as sand, vermiculite or other inert material. Prevent spill from entering waterways *Collect and dispose of spilled material according to local regulations *Wash away remnants with liberal amounts of cold water. Storage Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight * Store away from strong acids and always moisture * Keep containers closed and check regularly for spills. Disposal Refer to State/Territory Land Waste Management Authority: most authorities permit disposal at approved land waste sites.
