How to Use Pureco Silk Finish All-in-One Mineral Paint

Achieving a stunning finish with Pureco Silk Finish All-in-One Mineral Paint is easy when you follow these essential steps:

1. Clean Your Surface:
• Always begin by thoroughly cleaning your piece with hot, soapy water. We strongly recommend using Pureco Lemon Myrtle Cleaner to effectively eliminate grease, oil, dirt, and any residual cleaning products. This step ensures that the surface is completely free of contaminants that could prevent the paint from adhering properly.
  

2. Prepare Unpainted and Previously Painted Surfaces:

• For surfaces that have an existing finish including paint or topcoats, glossy, laminate, or ultra-smooth surfaces, use 80-grit sandpaper to scuff the surface and create texture.

3. Address Adhesion, High-Tannin Woods & Assist Coverage:

• We strongly advise applying one coat of Pureco Base & Blocker
•  to assist with coverage & adhesion. Pureco Silk Finish requires some help with adhesion & a selection of colours need assistance with coverage.
• For high-tannin woods or wood that bleeds, apply one coat of Pureco Base & Blocker, you can also spot treating any bleed as it occurs.

4. Apply the Paint:

• Apply 2-4 coats of paint; in most cases, 2-3 coats are sufficient. Sanding between coats is optional and can help smooth any brush strokes. Pureco Silk Finish self-levels, leaving minimal brush marks or texture unless overworked. For best results, use a high-quality synthetic brush like our recommended options (find them HERE).

5. Sealing Options:

• Pureco Silk Finish does not require sealing; however, if you desire a different finish or sheen, you can apply one of Pureco's finishes, such as Liquid Wax, Hemp Finishing Oil, Sealers, or Stain & Glaze.
• Note: Pureco Silk Finish is NOT compatible with Pureco Beeswax Polish.
